“On a beautiful day, when the weather was bad for a change …”
That is how the story begins. A cheerful story by Marc de Bel – or rather: by the children who once sat in his classroom.
Celebrated children’s author Marc de Bel, known for twenty years as Meester Marc, spent years jotting down funny and quirky sentences from his pupils’ essays. One beautiful day – yes, when the weather was bad – he rediscovered that notebook and enjoyed a truly wonderful afternoon.
Those childlike, delightfully naïve slip-of-the-tongue sentences form the basis of this new book. Meester Marc turned them into one joyful story, full of surprises and humour.
Fifteen Flemish cartoonists drew inspiration from the story and added witty, humorous illustrations. The result is a book that brings together the language of children and the images it evokes in adults.
A book to enjoy for everyone aged 9 to 113. For anyone who loves laughter, cartoons, quirky language and the power of imagination.
