Satyrykon (Legnica – Poland) is – together with Knokke-Heist, Kruishoutem, and Gabrovo (Bulgaria) – one of the oldest international competitions for cartoons and satirical art in general. In 2025, the competition will be in its 48th edition! The cartoon contest is divided into two categories: one with a theme, this year 'The Lesser of Two Evils,' and a free theme around humor and satire.
This year, the professional jury selected about 100 works from more than 3,000 entries from 69 countries. The exhibition was displayed in Legnica until early September and then immediately moved to Kruishoutem to be exhibited at the European Cartoon Center in a double exhibition with works by the festival's co-founder, the Polish cartoonist ROBS.
The exhibited cartoons form a powerful reflection of societal trends and the universal challenges we face as humans. The winning drawings, no matter how small, carry a message with impact – they make us laugh, reflect, and sometimes question the world we live in.
