Previous exhibitions - ‘Mundus vult decipi’ Eddi De Winter
From 26 june till 18 september 2022
« Mundus vult decipi » : the world wants to be deceived.
I would laugh my ass off if I saw how man, in this insane 21st century, with stubborn constipation of the mind is muddling along. Day after day, this caricature of himself soils his own nest, ruthlessly exterminates his fellow creatures and turns his fragile habitat into a bursting bubble.
And even if the earth sometimes smells like heaven for a moment, it remains a fragile paradise of tinned apple compote. Fortunately, humour brings lightness and balance. It remains our best facelift, be it with or without a grin.
Eddi De Winter'
Eddi De Winter - BARST (°5/11/1953) lives and works in Wichelen and studied at the Hoger Instituut St-Lucas Ghent graphic design, publicity and photography and taught at the VTI (now Oscar Romero College) in Dendermonde.
At a very young age he already started drawing cartoons and worked from 1983 to 1989 for the newspaper Het Volk. Until the early 2000s, he regularly took part in national and international cartoon competitions, where he often won prizes. His work is in possession of both national and international cartoon collections.
But Eddi De Winter is not only a cartoonist.
