Mojmir Mihatov was born in Zadar, Croatia in 1952. He graduated from the Pedagogical Academy of Fine Arts in Zadar.
He initially started his career as a designer as well as animator, scriptwriter and director in the Zadar Puppet Theatre. In 1978 he made the animation film "Reklamomanija". He created the scenography and puppets for more than 60 plays. He did win prizes for puppets and scenography in national and international competitions.
As a member of the Croatian Society of Caricaturists he twice received the recognition of OSKARIKA as the most successful author on international cartoon festivals. His cartoons are being published in various newspapers and magazines in Croatia and abroad (Slobodna Dalmacija, Vjesnik, Zadarski list, Narodni list...).
He did win his first prize as a cartoonist in 1976. Later he received a number of awards for cartoonists in his country or abroad. For example in 2017 he received the grand prize in the 37th International Nasreddin Hodja Caricature Competition in Turkey.
You can visit his exhibition in the ECC from 28 January till 8 April 2018, every Sunday from 10 to 12 am and from 2 to 5 pm. Groups of 10 persons or more are welcome on other days by appointment.
