Previous exhibitions - Karl Meersman (Belgium)
From 15 april till 17 june 2018
In 1987 Karl made his first drawing for the weekly magazine Trends. After a classical education in figure drawing and illustration art, Trends noticed him when he portrayed the passers-by in cities and streets as a rapid-draftsman. Now, 30 years later, Karl is still the home illustrator of Trends, KnackFocus and Knack.
This year-long weekly rhythm offers him the opportunity to work on an oeuvre in which he can constantly evolve as a draftsman. The weekly pressure of the deadline is a framework within which he can continue experimenting with familiar techniques. It gives him the opportunity to further deepen his visual language and get rid of superfluous virtuosity.
Years ago, Karl opted for 'work on paper' and 'pièce unique', and not for the digital road. The techniques he uses are mainly pencil, watercolor and gouache on paper. The original drawing is essential for him.
Through this exhibition you will come face to face with a selection of original works, which also reflect the spirit of the times in which we live.
You can visit his exhibition in the ECC from 15 April till 17 June 2018, every Sunday from 10 to 12 am and from 2 to 5 pm. Groups of 10 persons or more are welcome on other days by appointment.
