The Euro-kartoenale is celebrating its 24th edition this year. What once started as a small cartoon exhibition by Flemish cartoonists during the Gulden Eifeesten in 1978 has grown into one of the most important cartoon competitions in the world.

No less than 543 cartoonists, from 83 countries, from Argentina to Zambia, had let their creativity flow on the theme 'Future of Mobility: On the Road to Cartopia'. The awards will be announced on Saturday 8 of April and from the 9th on you will be able to see a selection of the 150 best cartoons at the European Cartoon Center.

The exhibition showcases a diversity of cartoons that is both entertaining and thought-provoking. It brings together a laugh and a tear. A simple joke is alternated with a beautiful colourful cartoon. As if the beautiful packaging, like a soft blanket, makes the snarky criticism easier to digest.

There is also a guest exhibition of cartoons and caricatures by Egyptian cartoonists.

Find out more about  the cartoon contest, the jury and the participants here.

The catalog of the exhibition is available in our E-Shop.

You can visit this exhibition in the ECC from 9 April till 18 June 2023, every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 12 and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
